The Apple’s amount of advertisements in first-party apps for iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS may increase soon. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is trying out a new internal ad model for Apple Maps that shows search-based recommendations as it looks to grow its advertising business.

Apple currently runs advertisements on its TV+ platform, App Store, News, and Stocks apps. In order to have their app appear as promoted on particular search pages in the App Store, developers can pay Apple. The News and Stocks apps’ ads appear as full banners that resemble those on websites. Additionally, Apple TV+ airs commercials for MLB Friday Night Baseball. The App Tracking Transparency (ATT) feature by Apple, which debuted with iOS 14.5 and had a significant impact on developer advertising revenue. Users have the option to reject tracking technologies used by developers to show them targeted ads, thanks to ATT. A Financial Times article from earlier this year claims that social media platforms were forced to pay close to $10 billion as a result of Apple’s app tracking policy. According to research by market intelligence company Omdia, Apple’s ad revenue earnings increased to $3.7 billion in 2021.
